Types of Bankruptcy Fees

There are a few different fees in a typical bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy fees include:

  • Attorney’s fees,
  • Court filing fees,
  • Credit counseling fee (for two online courses- one is taken before filing and the second is taken after filing), and
  • Miscellaneous fees for credit reports, title searches (if applicable), lien searches, court case and judgment searches, real estate appraisals (if applicable) and documents ordered through PACER.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Fees

Our office uses flat fee billing for the standard attorney services included in a Chapter 7 case.

Typical fees in a Chapter 7 case are:

  1. Attorney’s fees:  $1300.00 – $3500.00, depending on complexity of the case.
  2. Court filing fee:  $338.00 for both single filer and joint filer cases.
  3. Credit counseling courses:  Two courses are required. The fee for each course is set by an independent course provider. A typical fee is $15.00. We can help you find a course provider.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Fees

Our office uses flat fee billing for the standard attorney services needed to prepare and confirm a Chapter 13 case.

  1. Attorney’s fees:  $3000.00 – $6500.00, depending on complexity of the case.
  2. Court filing fee:  $313.00 for both single filer and joint filer cases.
  3. Credit counseling courses:  Two courses are required. The fee for each course is set by an independent course provider. A typical fee is $15.00. We can help you find a course provider.
